Stock Gifts

Donating publicly traded securities can be an effective way to support Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington, while optimizing tax benefits.

Transferring appreciated stocks, bonds and mutual funds held for over one year directly to BGCSW allows you to avoid capital gains tax on the appreciation of the asset and deduct the full market value, subject to IRS limits.

Planned giving, also known as legacy giving, is the process of making plans now for a charitable gift that will provide support to BGCSW in the future, often through a will, trust or beneficiary designation.

Qualified Charitable Distribution

If you are 70 ½ or older, you can make a direct transfer from your IRA to Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington. In 2026, the IRS allows for a QCD of up to $111,000 per year without paying income taxes on the distribution. If you are subject to required minimum distributions from your IRA, you can use your gift to satisfy all or part of that requirement.
