Nearly 100 Vancouver Families Hooked on Healthy Eating at Comcast Community Event
Comcast and Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington hosted nearly 100 members and their families at the Clinton & Gloria John Clubhouse in Vancouver, WA for Hunt. Fish. Feed., a community event designed to support families facing food insecurity while providing practical, hands-on nutrition education they can use every day.
Through a shared meal and interactive experiences, families explored ways to prepare healthy, sustainable food and build confidence in making nutritious choices at home.
For many families served by the Club, access to consistent, healthy meals remains a challenge. Nearly 85% of youth experience food insecurity, and in the past year alone, the organization served more than 14,900 meals to youth and families across Southwest Washington.
“Events like this are about more than a meal - they’re about equipping families with the knowledge and confidence to make healthy, sustainable choices at home,” said Paige Persico, Director of Youth & Family Services for Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington. “When we bring families together in a supportive environment, we create meaningful opportunities for connection, learning, and lasting impact.”
This event is part of a broader commitment to strengthening communities through partnership. Comcast’s support of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington extends beyond a single event and is rooted in Project UP, the company’s $1 billion initiative to advance digital opportunity and build a future of unlimited possibilities.
The Club is also home to a Comcast Lift Zone - part of a nationwide effort to provide free, reliable WiFi access and welcoming spaces for learning - helping ensure youth and families have the digital tools they need to succeed in school and beyond.
“Through Project UP, we’re investing in programs and partnerships that create meaningful, lasting change in the communities we serve,” said Keith Turner, Senior Vice President of Comcast’s Pacific Northwest Region. “By working alongside organizations like Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington, we’re helping expand access to critical resources, from nutritious meals to digital connectivity, so families can thrive today and into the future.”
Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington serves nearly 600 youth every day across nine Club sites and reaches more than 2,600 young people each year, providing safe spaces, academic support, and enriching programs that help youth succeed.
Events like this demonstrate what’s possible when community organizations and partners come together with a shared goal: to support families, create opportunities, and build a stronger, healthier future for Southwest Washington.
