Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington welcomes Tamara Shoup as its Chief Strategy Officer for Mission Advancement. Tamara will serve on the BGCSW leadership team as a strategic advisor, strengthening organizational capacity and helping integrate initiatives, policies, procedures and internal communications.
“This year we are on track to serve hundreds of children and youth daily in targeted programs designed to help students regain lost academic momentum, revitalize in-person social connections, and access emotional and mental health support services,” said Francisco Bueno, executive director of BGCSW. “With Tamara joining our leadership team, we will have the capacity to deliver on that promise while supporting quick and agile execution of our strategic vision.”
Most recently, Tamara served as the executive director of school support services at Vancouver Public Schools. In this role, she successfully led the District’s nationally recognized community schools initiative, expanding Family Community Resource Centers and services throughout the district. Tamara holds a master’s degree in research administration and a bachelor’s degree in human development. Tamara also served on the BGCSW Board from 2019-2021.
“Boys and Girls Clubs provide vital support to the youth and families in our community,” said Shoup. “Last year, when schools were closed, BGCSW became one of a few places where youth and families could access information, resources and support. BGCS staff served some of our most vulnerable children and youth, helping them make it through a very difficult time. I am honored to be a part of growing this work in Southwest Washington.”
The mission of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington is to inspire and enable young people to become responsible, productive, caring citizens; to ensure that every young person has the opportunity to pursue their dreams; and to provide young people with the resources to succeed.
