VANCOUVER, Washington – Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington today announced the suspension of Club operations for one week due to the statements of both Washington State Governor Jay Inslee and Clark County Public Health regarding the rise of the infection known as COVID-19.
Executive Director Francisco Bueno explains, “The safety of our Club members, their families and our staff is our number one priority. We are in very close coordination with local, state and national health authorities as well as Vancouver Public Schools and the Evergreen School District.”
Director Bueno continues, “We are currently partnering with local school districts, Clark County Public Health, and other community partners to determine which short term services we may be able to provide during this unforeseen interruption in regular schedules. At the same time, we will continue to take steps to return to full operation. We are committed to being a resource for working families and school aged youth and are resolute to reopen our doors as soon as it is deemed in the best interest of all members, families, staff, schools and general community. As things change and updates are available we will continue to keep our families, our staff and the community informed via our website, and on social media.”
For over twenty years, the Boys & Girls Clubs of Southwest Washington has provided high quality after-school youth development programs for thousands of local families. We remain committed to our mission of helping local youth, especially those who need us the most, to reach their full potential and become successful adults and contributing members of the community.
